Use & Care

Stainless steel is a high-performance material designed to last a lifetime, while it is significantly more resistant to staining and corrosion than traditional silver, it still requires proper care to maintain its artisan finish and before using your new cutlery for the first time, we recommend washing each piece in warm water with a mild liquid detergent to ensure your collection remains in pristine condition, please observe the following guidelines:

The Essentials: Do’s

  • Choose Mild Detergents - Always use a high-quality, pH-neutral dish detergent when cleaning your dishes
  • Keep Cutlery Dry Immediately - To help avoid water spots on your cutlery, dry the cutlery with a soft, lint-free cloth immediately after washing
  • Do Not Mix Metals - Avoid washing your stainless steel cuttlery with aluminium, sterling silver, or silver plated cuttlery, mixing these different metals will cause the formation of "pitting" due to an electrochemical reaction
  • Use Each Item Evenly - Rotate your cutlery pieces within your drawer to ensure all pieces maintain an even finish over time
  • Dishwashing Cutlery - When washing cutlery in a dishwasher, place the cutlery into the upper tray only, be sure to separate the pieces adequately to prevent scratching
  • Timing of Cutlery Removal - Remove cutlery from the dishwasher before the "hot air" drying cycle starts, as the residual heat and moisture from the drying cycle accelerate the discolouration and spotting of the cutlery surfaces
  • Correct Cutlery Storage - Store your cutlery in a dry, clean area such as a lined drawer or cutlery roll

Precautions: Don'ts

  • Do Not Soak - Cutlery should not sit in water for long periods of time because it can cause corrosion and build up minerals
  • No Abrasives - Never use anything that has an abrasive quality (steel wool, scouring pads, abrasive chemical polishing agents) as they can ruin the original luster of your cutlery beyond repair
  • Keep Away from Humidity - Don't leave your cutlery in a closed tight dishwasher, in the dampness, overnight or for hours after the cycle has finished
  • Avoid Chemical Harshness - Do not put heavy duty cleaning solutions (detergents) or solutions containing chlorine on your cutlery, citrus-infused cleaning solutions like lemon and orange, which are very acidic, will eventually erode the surface of your cutlery
  • Protect Your Handles - Hand-forged and other textured handles should not be cleaned with metallic brushes and should not be scrubbed too hard, the intricate designs can be destroyed with improper techniques

Specialist Care & Restoration

If your cutlery develops stubborn marks or mineral deposits, a mildly abrasive, high-quality stainless steel cleaner can be used to revive its original lustre.
Professional Tip - To remove stubborn water spots, apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol or a light salad oil to a soft cloth. For a brilliant, mirror-like shine, wipe the pieces with a cloth dampened in white vinegar, a technique favoured by fine-dining establishments to keep their service in peak condition.
